The letters are meant to be mathematic variables, so basically whatever number you think it is

My opinion is :

 

Small:  diameter < 4 cm

Medium: diameter 5 - 7 cm

large: diameter 7 - 9 cm

X-large: diameter 9 - 11 cm

Black Hole: diameter > 11 cm

I am personally at the beginning of the X-Large journey

I like to consider circumference rather than diameter, as so many toys are very unevenly shaped.
