Photo tool software request

This is a photo tool software request.

Can anybody suggest some software (preferably freeware) for adding (or superimposing) text onto digital pictures ?
Perhaps it already exist bundled in some common programs I currently have ? (Infranview, Imagewalker, Microsoft Photo Editor, etc)

For example:
"Originally from ROSEBUTTBOARD", or "WHITEHOUSE Members Only",
or "Bada Bing Club Models", or a time-date stamp (but more), whatever, anything, etc etc.

I know this stuff exists because I've seen it many times.
Just can't think of what or how to to call it in order to do a search engine query.
Kind of like, you know ..., that thingamajig that can do whatchamacallit with the chingadera.

Use Paint
Yes it can be done with it!

If you want to do it... easier, use Photo Filtre Studio. It's light yet powerful. I use it for all sorts of thing with the photos I take, like sharpening, light correction, color rebalansing, cropping, resing etc.
And it has two really really great features: automate mode and layers.

It's not free, but you can easily find a serial.

Thanks. I also did manage to find some with a few googles.

My search tags included some of these: watermark, superimpose, time, date, stamp photo, etc....
One can search for these if needed. Some are free and others are shareware.
I used only one (PhotoDater.exe), but tried another.
