To tolerate megathreads, or not to tolerate megathreads?

Sure, these mega threads exist. Sure, putting them to one side, means that hunting for them is further limited (which is a benefit). Sure, they have lots of content in them.

BUT should they be tolerated? Topics are easier to navigate: mega threads are not, within current displays. They require looking through more pages... yet more trawling.

It's not that it doesn't make sense to keep things similar, together, it's that it's a superfluous fashion, when it comes to user activity management.

Users need to do as little as possible, in order to fulfill their searches. Maybe this is moaning about hard cheese (it being more difficult to cut, but cheese nonetheless), but consider that it's tenuous and taxing to add yet more workload to a user.

Workload should be kept to a minimum: minimal clicks.

And don't think suggesting search function, is going to cut this hard chunk: that requires more input.

No frills, in imposition. As many frills as a user chooses, in THEIR preference. Pro choice, but not pro default.

EDIT: OK, there's not exactly an alternative... splitting those mega threads up into individual topics, is MORE work for moderators. Forum's layouts in themselves are more tedious than a layout needs to be for browsing, but it would be pertinent to handle best with a belligerently bunched formation. personally i don´t like megathreads. they are just big containers for stuff to download and no place to really appreciate special content with god descriptions and discussions. some users that only come here to find new porn to download they may be useful. but from my pov this doesn´t represent the spirit of the board. and that, for me, is a place where afficionados of the best fisting/toys/dilation stuff come and talk about their fetish.

but, on the other hand, these megathreads, now placed in one special subforum, don´t hurt anyone. you can go there or not, it´s your choice. the only thing that strikes me is that sometimes real good stuff is hidden in these megathreads which is thus overlooked.

Some decent points, but a few more were left out.

Some users here put their entire repertoire in one thread, and are actually reasonable users (ahem... Franki, dinko and this individual, are three that first spring to mind ).

OK, so many are Russian cash generators. Perhaps have a form of burial priority: those that are genuinely decent threads, sticky (they will be few and far between, as well as future users being dismayed to post this way... by some kind of subtle reminder by X, or mod appropriate)?
