  1. There are any number of ways to progress to a wider and wider hole. Most will agree that one should advance gradually, maybe 1/2" (12 cm) in circumference at a time. One can spend a lot of money on toys following that advice, and it will be difficult to find the right size toy when needed. You can save a bundle by using veggies of increasing size, or do as I did. When I got so that the Tantus A-bomb (2-1/2" plug) slipped in easily, I bought the inexpensive Doc Johnson "Giant Penis with Balls". It was a little much to handle at first, but I mastered it in a couple of weeks. It's very smooth and swishy making it fairly easy to push in despite its 3" girth. I really didn't like it that much -- it's smooth surface provides very little stimulation -- but it was perfect as a platform for further stretching. I would stretch an ankle sock over the dildo and then apply a heavy duty condom. The sock increased the diameter of the dildo slightly, but also added texture that added intense pleasure on insertion. Over time I was able to handle that dildo with 10 socks which increased the circumference to 11.5" (from 9.5") which is where I am today, and as far as I intend to go. That's way more than is needed for fisting. At that point you will likely be looking at increasing your depth skill. Try not to focus too much on achieving a width or depth goal, though. Rather, enjoy the journey. It's good to stretch out the process of stretching out your ass. Pleasure should be the goal, first and foremost. Play safely.
  2. I've been into anal play for about 4 years now. I got started in my 20s, took a long, long break, and am now back to it (60s). In my youth, I had concerns about doing myself permanent damage. What happened over the ensuing months and years is that my anal tract adapted to the routine of regular stretching and fisting activity. Even without a strong commitment to Kegel exercises (I did them sporadically), my sphincter grew stronger. It "learned" to relax and open on command, but also to return to seal off the rectum within a couple of hours of an intense period of stretching and pounding. Even farts, which in the beginning were frequent, loud and base, returned to normal in time. I goes to show how the body can adapt. Today, there are times when I miss the days when my butt would hang open, oozing and begging for more stimulation. Anal play -- stretching and fisting -- is a wonderful way to continue sexual activity into one's later years when virility naturally drops off, even as one's sexual urges linger. If you like anal play, and you follow the go-slow advice repeated many times on this forum, you most likely will not suffer debilitating continence in your later years. In fact, you may actually avoid the affliction altogether.

My whole body would go into a sweat and my mind seemed on the verge of fainting. I loved it. I advanced over a couple of year's time to 3" diameter and even got my fist in at one point. I'm more interested in depth play now and have lost the motivation to return to my former width accomplishment. The point I'm trying to make is that, although one's hole never returns to its virgin state, it will tighten up considerably if not exercised on a regular basis. At least, that's my experience. That assertion assumes that stretching is done gradually so as not to tear any muscle tissue. That's especially true when starting out. Over time, my anal and rectal tissues seem to have toughened up and can take more abuse. I rarely see any sign of bleeding anymore, and my recovery times after a good long session are only about 12 hours these days. I'm comforted to know that there's no price to pay for my "hobby". Any concerns I once had about that are completely behind me (no pun intended).

When I was starting out, that same plug would not go in either. You might want to drop down to a 2" plug and work your way up. At 3 inches, I was convinced my pelvic bones would not allow further dilation, but, in time, I worked up to 3-1/2" diameter solid round. Don't give up, but take the stretching process slowly. You don't want to tear any tissue.
