First file:

The frame rate's dropping off at the start in V.L.C., but it's still showing the video after 8 seconds or so.

Players where the file isn't showing, are redundant, so don't use them. They're not robust enough.

Test: works in a more suited player, as V.L.C. struggles to pick up the file. Test successful.

Second file:

The frame rate's dropping off at the start, but this time it's 9 seconds or so until it starts.

That was an enjoyable test.

You'll get the most success through Media Player Classic with FFDShow:
