Not exactly, Tumblr blocked search for every porn related keyword, so not only extreme stuff. You can't even use tags nor search inside blogs.
It's not clear if this will be permanent or just temporary.

This will probably affect the community expecially for small amateur and now blogs who collect other posts and sharing on forum like this will become more and more important.

The official statement is that they have blocked searches for NSFW material pending a thorough search for child pornography found in their network. 

They have bots monitoring and referencing to an international database for sources of typical pictures, but some material have gone through their filters and ended up on Tumblr. 

This was also believed to be the reason the app was banned from Apple App store.

I just hope they use the extra Server-Power wisely, and get that shit off Tumblr for good. Meanwhile I'll stick to Tumblr despite the lack of search.
